Festival of Japan in Tunisia

From 30 October to 1 November 2026, the Embassy of Japan in Tunisia organized the Japan Festival at the City of Culture in Tunis to celebrate the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Tunisia and Japan. The event offered visitors a great opportunity to discover Japanese culture, traditions and lifestyle.
The festival presented and introduced a rich cultural program to highlight both traditional and contemporary Japanese arts and culture. Visitors had the opportunity to enjoy a wide range of activities and performances: Cinema, Kimono, Martial arts, Manga, Ikebana, Tea ceremonies, Calligraphy, Rakugo, Cosplay and music and dance performances. Thousands of Tunisians of all ages attended the festival and enjoyed discovering the richness and diversity of Japanese culture.
Japan Alumni Tunisia (JAT) also participated in the event to introduce educational and academic opportunities in Japan. The JAT stand provided information about Japanese universities, scholarship programs (MEXT/ABE), research programs (SATREPS) and Japanese language courses (Nihongo) available in Tunisia.
Many visitors visited the JAT stand to learn more about educational opportunities in Japan and possibilities for academic and research collaboration with Japanese institutions.
The Japan Festival was a wonderful occasion to discover Japanese culture, promote educational and research exchanges and further strengthen the friendship between Tunisia and Japan.
