On 9 April members of Berlin Branch of the German Tsukuba society did hanami at one of Berlin's cherry tree alleys. This particular alley has a very rich history which is connected to the unification of Germany and the Berlin wall.
After Eastern and Western Germany reunited into one country, many cherry trees have been planted along the Berlin Wall road (place where the Berlin Wall previously stood), most of them as part of Asahi TV's "Sakura Campaign".
Not only members of the Berlin Branch, but also Alumnus from Bonn, former students of the Transnational European and East Asian Culture and History (TEACH) Program. It was great, having a picnic and talking to each other while enjoying the transient beauty of cherry blossom!
