Go go Tsukuba athletes! Mr. NAGASE Takanori, a graduate student, won a gold medal in Judo at the Tokyo Olympics.


On July 27, Mr. NAGASE Takanori, a 2015 graduate of University of Tsukuba School of Health and Physical Education, won a gold medal in the men's 81kg judo category at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.
In addition, Ms. KAJIHARA Yuumi ( 2nd year student of the Master’s Program in Physical Education ) will be competing in the women's Madison (two-person team), Track Cycling today, August 6, and the women’s Omnium on August 8, aiming for a gold medal. She is Japan’s first world champion of cycling world championships 2020. Please cheer her on!


University of Tsukuba, which is closely associated with Dr.KANO Jigoro, the pioneer of modern Judo and the first International Olympic Committee (IOC) member in Asia, has many students and graduates playing in Tokyo 2020.
