2017/07/13
The University of Tsukuba beat Japan Professional Football League's Division 2 (J2) second-ranked Avispa Fukuoka during the third round of the Emperor's Cup All Japan Football Championship last July 12 (Wed) at K's Denki Stadium in Mito, Ibaraki.
The university team played against YS Yokohama (J3) in the first round followed by Vegalta Sendai (J1) in the second. The latest victory is the third consecutive win and the team is now part of the best 16. Ace player, Seiya Nakano, contributed two points during the game. The opponent for the next round will be decided by drawing lots on August 7, and the match will be held on September 20. If they win again, they will be in the best 8, a first-time feat for a university team. Let's keep our fingers crossed and hope for the best!
