First day of African Education and Cultural Week 12th-16th December 2016

2016/12/12

Today was the first day of the African Academic and Cultural Week. We started with the key note address delivered by Ms. Caroline Benton, the Vice President of University of Tsukuba and Director of Global Affairs. She highlighted the university's efforts in establishing partnerships with African universities with the objective of training global leaders capable of addressing global challenges. The internal forum had presentations on energy and environment.
We had cultural exhibitions in the library where students had a chance to try on African clothes. We also had a documentary on the Congo forest which contains Africa's longest river;the Congo river. In the evening from 17:00, we screened the movie Sarafina which tells the story of South African teenagers who fought against apartheid.
It was a very successful day and a great start to the week.
We invite you to join us tomorrow at Student Commons for discussions on science and technology in Africa, enjoy the exhibitions in the library and watch an Egyptian movie from 15:15 at student Commons.
Here are some photos from today's events.
Thank you very much.
